HELEN A. HODGSON was born in Falconbridge, Ontario. She married a Nova Scotian, Harry M. Hodgson, the great grandson of Johnie Hodgson, and the grandson of William Henry Hodgson who was born on Sable Island. Harry was born in Goldboro, N.S., a town previously known as Isaac's Harbour, East Side. His father was Simeon Rhude Hodgson, a namesake of old Captain Simeon Rhude.  Harry died in 1982.

Helen raised her four children in Falconbridge (Nancy, Ernie, Elaine and Randy) and made her home there until 2006. Her life was filled with the joys of three grandchildren, Alissa, Jared and Erin. Since the writing of this book, she now has two great grandchildren, Hayley and Camryn.  In her spare time she liked to paint in oils and watercolours, write poetry and short stories, and dabble in crafts. The cover of the book was from an oil painting done by her.

Helen passed away in 2009.
